trash, good athlete results and stuff

who the heck leaves a used tube on the road. we here in miami have a beautiful place called key biscayne to train on. it is on the water and visually very beautiful. so how come cyclists who get flats leave there old tubes on the ground? who the fuck (i need to use that word, sorry) do you think is going to pick them up and why can't you put it in your jersey pocket. who the hell (again i need to) do these people thinkthey are to leave them on the road along wioth burnt CO2 canisters. UGHGHHHHHHH this irks me. so i usually pick them up when i can along with gel wrappers. i did this on my run yesterday and it makes you feel better. this earth is so doomed as it is so we all better do our part. now i'm getting mad!!
on brighter news: Team Fitness Mission athlete Jason S. did his first IM in Lake Placid yesterday and went 10:57 with a BodyZen built training plan. way to go jason and that time is great for that course and especially for your first IM. you should be soaking it all in and ready to rock your next one!!!
all else is well and this morning s brew was Green Mountain! very nice!!

great day for BZ

so it is a great weekend for BZ athletes. first, jackie miller takes home a silver medal at Long Course World Champs in france and Ben Bartlett wins overall in Virginia. i managed to win the AG at the Zephyr Water Super Sprint in Ft. Lauderdale. fun race and good weekend for me and all my friends. lotte branigan took home another overall win, boris got first overall and eddie came in right behind him.
i capped it off with 2 hours of motopacing today. thanks Z for being a great driver. i was tucked in on an interval going 50 KPH and the scooter just died and i nearly wiped out very bad. but, Z held her line driving and i squeaked by with a hairs width. after the scooter drank some water she was back. i finished with a 40 minute run so a good weekend of training.
next weekend is a good Olympic race in Miami Beach so i will KEY in for that one.

if you ever can pick up some Rhwandan coffee beans then get them. the taste is great. just smooth and creamy like a classic cup should be.

One mans junk is anothers treasure..

so i was out running in the pouring rain today and thinking about how i was going to cook my buffalo burgers tonight when my train of thought shifted drastically as it usually does.
what is the definition of 'junk miles'? frequently, i get asked about whether i am a volume coach or a quality coach and this seems like such an easy way to label people. i don't know how i can answer this or how i would label myself if i had to.

but, it does lead me to ask what are junk miles??? i spent some time talking to a University of Oregon runner who specializes in 5k and 10k. he was telling me that they run 80-100 miles per week. now these are some of the fastest runners in the biz so my question is: would some people out there classify some of these miles as junk miles? in my opinion some individuals do better with more miles and more quality and some do better with less miles but as good quality. now, finding out which you fall into is the KEY!!! HOW CAN WE DO THIS? trial and error my friend and it also helps to have someone like a coach to bounce your data off of as this way you can have two heads looking at the issue. i can say that i am a proponent of frequent running. now is frequent running the same as junk miles. the proof is in the pudding. how good is the pudding or how well does the athlete do is the real question. what works better for you? anyway the burgers are burning so i better get them.
